Big-name Boston Celtics target No. 2) Serge Ibaka

Like Whiteside, we have discussed the idea of the Boston Celtics pursuing Serge Ibaka in the past. Unlike Whiteside, however, we have not tired of discussing this potential “match made in heaven” scenario, as we tend to talk about this idea as often as we possibly can.

The fit is just perfect in our humble opinion.

The shamrocks could use for some bolstering up in the frontcourt, some improved defensive prowess, and added 3-point shooting off the pine.

The 31-year-old big man would certainly check off all three boxes.

We saw the 7-footer first hand put forth this specific skill set against the Cs during the 2020 postseason, as he posted 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks while shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 48.4 percent from deep.

Throughout the entirety of the regular season, he proved to still have what it takes to be a competent contributor on a championship-caliber team, as he put up 15.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and just shy of a block per game on 51 percent shooting from the floor and 39 percent shooting from deep.

In short, Serge Ibaka would be an unbelievable commodity for Boston to have in their frontcourt come next season. If there were any player on the open market they should pursue, it’s him.
