Marc Gasol

Marc Gasol reclaimed his starting role with the Raptors this season after losing it during his injury-caused absences. Whether or not that makes him due for a contract better than the taxpayer’s mid-level exception the team is armed with is unknown. Regardless, Gasol’s playmaking from the post would be a welcomed sight in the Boston Celtics offense.

Daniel Theis has been known to find backdoor cutters from time to time, but Gasol has long been known as one of the best passing centers in the game. If he wants to win one more ring before he retires, Boston is a safe place to sign on with in the hopes of doing so.

Serge Ibaka

Defensively-minded and capable of spacing the floor, Serge Ibaka has long been a Houdini target. He fits the Celtics so well, playing in much the same role Theis plays in now. If the Cs could get him at a similar price point, then they would have found a former champion capable of manning the starting lineup or as a sixth man–both roles he has embraced in his career.

Like Gasol, the mid-level exception is the Celtics’ offer. Is that enough to bite for a modern big who could likely fetch more money and a starting job elsewhere?

Chris Boucher

Quite frankly, Chris Boucher would be a luxury for a Boston squad that already employs Robert Williams in the same role. Williams looked the part of playable and possibly startable in Game 7, while Boucher didn’t see time on the floor.

Depending on what the market looks like, however, Boucher could be smart to invest in if the price is low enough to justify having both him and “Time Lord” on the same depth chart.
