Indiana 3-for-1

What better way to spend $34 million than on a starting quality center, a starting-caliber wing that could give you 16-18 points per game and a backup wing that shoots north of 40 percent from the 3-point line?

That is the thinking with a 3-for-1 swap with the Indiana Pacers for Myles Turner, T.J. Warren, and Doug McDermott. Given the nature of Indiana’s brutal sweep at the hands of the Miami Heat, the Pacers could be looking to reshuffle their deck. This move would open things up in the crowded frontcourt shared by Turner and All-Star Domantas Sabonis.

Sending Warren away would also allow Oladipo to regain the alpha dog status in the offense without question. Warren would have a much clearer objective of assimilating Tatum and Brown in Beantown after having to serve as a primary option in the bubble.

Indiana could see what the Oladipo/Hayward duo can produce in a contract year for both former All-Stars. Sabonis could have more room to operate as the center in a four-out lineup that could also include Malcolm Brogdon and Aaron Holiday, or Goga Bitadze could slide into the center spot.

Either way, Hayward unlocks versatility for the Pacers lineup, and the return would bolster the roster around the already existing infrastructure.
