The Boston Celtics have drastically outperformed the preseason prediction of Fox Sports 1’s Nick Wright. Here’s what they think of it now.

Following the Boston Celtics’ one-sided sweep of the Philadephia 76ers, certain C’s stars are rehashing the obsolete take of Fox Sports 1 shock-jock TV personality Nick Wright. As Wright said back last summer:

"“The Boston Celtics plan was Antony Davis, Kyrie Irving, (and) Al Horford. That has turned into Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker (and) Enes Kanter. That’s a disaster.”"

I suppose at the time it was easy for the untrained eyes of casual observers to see three All-Stars turn into one and assume the team was going to be worse than what they were supposed to be…but any C’s fan that watched the team in the playoffs last season knew that at the very least the subtraction of Irving would allow the team to try to play as they did in his absence during their 2018 playoff run.

But Tatum became an All-Star himself, and Kanter ended up being outplayed by the emerging Daniel Theis and becoming a luxury sixth man. Beyond his play on the hardwood, Kanter has gelled well with teammates and has served as a veteran enforcer for his young teammates. Well, the Turkish center decided to reintroduce Wright’s preseason prediction, with his own take on the FS1 personality’s schtick:

Wright is more concerned with All-Star accolades than team chemistry, clearly. While we will likely never know how an Irving-Davis-Horford trio would have fared, we now know that the C’s core–which Wright failed to mention also includes the likes of Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and Gordon Hayward–is at least as good as the 2018-19 iteration that also advanced to the second round of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Here’s to the Boston Celtics continuing to force Wright to enjoy his own foot as a snack with their playoff run!
