Boston Celtics: 3 key takeaways for Cs series-sweep over Philadelphia
By Mark Nilon
Round-one takeaway No. 1) Kemba Walker appears healthy
Coming into the Disney bubble, a major concern pertaining to the Boston Celtics was in regard to the health status of the team’s franchise point guard, Kemba Walker. After missing large chunks of games prior to the hiatus due to lingering knee ailments, many questioned how the All-Star would fair once the season resumed.
Though during the eight seeding games Brad Stevens and co. opted to slowly get Walker going within the rotation — often capping his minutes to around 25 per game — as soon as the postseason commenced, the 30-year-old was a full go and, in turn, so too was his production.
Through the four-games played, Walker managed to post impressive averages of 21.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game on an efficient 48 percent shooting from the floor in 32 minutes.
Exemplifying unbelievable speed and toughness when driving the lane for a finish at the rim and scrappiness/ constant effort on the defensive side of the ball, Kemba has seemingly all but put C’s fans worries about his health to the side.
He played a massive role in the club’s series sweep. Moving forward, one would only guess he’ll look to have the same impact for Boston.
