What to monitor tonight No. 3) Kemba Walker

Frankly, the inclusion of Kemba Walker being on this list should not surprise anyone. Hobbled by a nagging knee injury throughout a large portion of this year’s campaign, the All-Star point guard finds himself on a minutes restriction during these seeding games.

Though increased to 30 minutes during their last route over the Toronto Raptors, fans of the organization were watching Walker intensely while he was on the hardwood. Though he came away from the contest unscathed, every Boston Celtics fan’s heart skipped a beat when he went down to the floor in the first half after colliding with a defender, only to get up a few second after and ended up logging 23 minutes of play.

Walker finds himself in the midst of arguably his best season in the NBA. Through 54 games, the point guard is boasting averages of 20.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and just shy of a steal per game on 43 percent shooting from the floor, 38 percent shooting from deep, and a career-best box plus/ minus of +4.9.

While the C’s roster is insanely talented, it is Walker who separates this team from good to great. From his on-court production to his mentorship/ leadership, the ninth-year veteran has had a major impact on this team that his teammates and the organization’s fans won’t soon forget.

A healthy Kemba Walker makes this team truly scary, which is why monitoring his health should be one of the main priorities moving towards the playoffs.

Next. B/ R suggests this player could reach ceiling elsewhere. dark
