What we need to see No. 2) Playing time for the younglings

Once the seeding games come into fruition, it’s all but certain that the team’s rotation of 16 players from their last game against the Phoenix Suns will be shortened significantly by about half.

With this in mind, today’s game against Houston could be one of the last chances a majority of the Boston Celtics’ young talents will have to see meaningful minutes on the hardwood this season. Because of this, we could very likely see increased playing time for said youngsters.

Proving capable of holding their own in substantial playing time, the team’s fourth-quarter unit, consisting of the likes of Romeo Langford, Carsen Edwards, Grant Williams, Javonte Green, Robert Williams, Tremont Waters, and Vincent Poirier managed to hold their team’s lead, outscoring the Suns by a score of 23-22.

Of this bunch, Langford (nine points on 50 percent shooting) and Edwards (seven points on 50 percent shooting) were the offensive forces while both Williams provided the defensive and hustle play (one block apiece and a box plus/ minus of five (G. Williams) and seven (R. Williams)) that aided in the team’s strong stance of holding off Phoenix.

Hopefully, today’s game will see more than an average of 8.4 minutes for these respective ballers, especially for Tremont Waters who received a mere five minutes of playing time this past weekend despite proving to play like the backup point guard this Celtics team could use moving forward (dished out three assists, two of which were dime passes to a cutting Langford).
