Boston Celtics: 3 Cs who could see extended play in seeding games

We could see certain members of the Boston Celtics get more minutes in an expanded role in the final eight seeding games of the NBA season. Here are three players the Houdini thinks will pick up extra work.

Over the course of the NBA’s truncated and highly unusual finish, the Boston Celtics will be battling for the number two seed in the Eastern Conference or avoiding slipping down to the fourth seed during these remaining eight seeding games.

There’s also the nuclear option where the Cs don’t adjust to the fan-less nature of the league’s restart. Don’t expect that, but honestly who knows what else 2020 has in store for us.

Either way, the unique circumstances will likely force head coach Brad Stevens to get the most of his depth. If there are bubble infractions, there could be unforeseen quarantines and substitute players finding their way onto rosters.

Even if Boston moves forward with what they have, the gradual return to playing coupled with the likely need to preserve starters before the playoffs could mean that certain players will take on a more pronounced workload.

As it stands, Kemba Walker is dealing with nagging knee issues, which could cause him to play less than usual. With unknown dangers for other players that are returning to rigorous competition after a longer hiatus than usual, there could be other Cs that join him on injury watch.

The Houdini is here to identify those that may have to step in and play a role that’s beyond what they signed up for. The bubble may bring about new unsung heroes and show who has the pure talent to win even in the deathmatch-esque circumstances of the return.
