This offseason, when the chaos of the NBA free agency begins, the Boston Celtics could target these players from the Central Division.

Everything about this offseason is going to feel distinctly different from year’s past. Instead of celebrating the beginning of free agency with fireworks, the Boston Celtics and the 29 other teams who don’t have 17 championships will be gearing up towards the 2020-21 season that is tentatively scheduled for December.

The NBA Draft has been moved to the 16th of October and free agency begins just two days later. Given that this was already scheduled to be a somewhat weak free-agent class, things will be even more topsy turvy than usual.

That could mean that headline transactions could be made in the trade market as opposed to players finding new homes on their own accord. As often mentioned around these parts, the Celtics are ready for such a scenario, being that they don’t have any salary-cap space but own plenty of trade assets to make something happen.

A blockbuster trade–however unlikely barring a first-round collapse–is not completely out of the question. Neither is a deal involving any of Boston’s three upcoming first-round picks. Remember, Danny Ainge just whiffed on his first-round choices in 2019 and may be more inclined to find a more sure thing to suit this roster.
