Player with most to prove at NBA Disney No. 3: Kemba Walker, PG

While someone that just signed a four-year $140 million max deal and made his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance doesn’t typically find themselves with much to prove, Kemba Walker still has plenty to add to his legacy this postseason.

Walker is known as a great teammate and a consummate professional. What he isn’t known for is being a winner in the NBA.

You could talk about the shortcomings of the Charlotte Hornets franchise, who failed to surround him with the appropriate personnel to engineer a deep playoff run in his nine seasons in the “Buzz City.”

That said, history doesn’t tend to look back and explain every intricate detail about why a player never reached his apex from a team or personal standpoint. History is often written by the conquering heroes, after all.

Walker could be currently viewed as a good but not great player because of his lack of postseason success. In a career that began fresh off the heels of a collegiate title with UCONN, Walker has yet to come close to a championship at the professional level.

That narrative could quickly change if the Boston Celtics were to go on a deep run in the playoffs this season. Now more than ever, players will be judged solely on their output on the floor. For the duration of his career, Walker has been a producer of impressive individual stat lines.

Now, he can add team success to his resume…and that would be the ultimate resume booster for the 30-year-old.
