As the Boston Celtics return to the Auerbach Center for workouts in preparation for the return of the season, there a few G-League players that could provide solid production if given the opportunity.

It was announced earlier this week that all 30 teams will be able to convert two-way contracts and sign any eligible free-agents for the remainder of the season, and the Boston Celtics have a few really good G-League players that could provide solid minutes off of the bench.

The Cs have already seen appearances from both Tremont Waters and Tacko Fall, but the team’s G-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, finished their season as the third-best team in the entire League.

Unfortunately, that squad didn’t have the opportunity to fight for a championship, but now they have the opportunity to join the Celtics and compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Although it would be hard to add another talented player to an already crowded rotation, let’s discuss potential options in case Danny Ainge decides to go that route.

G-League call-up option No. 1: Tacko Fall, C

You knew this one was coming, right? Frankly, it just wouldn’t be right to exclude Tacko Fall in this.

And although some may just want him for the fun and excitement (don’t get me wrong he is absolutely fun and exciting), I truly believe that the 7-5 big man could be a huge addition to the rotation. No, not just at the end of a blowout, but throughout the entire game.

Playing just four minutes a game, Tacko’s numbers aren’t necessarily eye-popping, but they are still important to take note of. The beloved rookie is averaging 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds on 75 percent shooting.

We can however have some fun with the Per 36 numbers. Are you ready? 28.5 points, 22.2 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Of course, there are flaws to per 36 numbers, but they are able to give us some sort of perspective of how much more dominant Tacko could be if given more minutes.

In Maine, Tacko’s numbers are just about what you would expect. In 23 minutes, Tacko is putting up 12.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks on 71 percent shooting from the field.

We have all seen enough of the Tacko show (although we can never get enough Tacko) to know how dominant he is on both ends. His rare size allows him to block just about every shot he wants as well as the ability to rise above any possible defender to get off pretty much any shot.

Here you can see just a glimpse of one of the many tools in the toolbox for Tacko. The ability to get great positioning and get off a good quality hook shot over the 6-11 Lamarcus Aldridge.

Fall’s improved footwork, good patience, and unstoppable frame make his go-to hook shot an unstoppable move to defend.

But as talented as he is on offense, the Boston Celtics could use his defense and rebounding more than anything. That’s not to take anything from the production from Daniel Theis or Robert Williams, but it’s always great to have multiple options for different match-ups, especially in the playoffs.

A lot can change from now until the first round as teams still have to play through the eight-game regular-season that was implemented, but the Celtics are currently slated to play the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. I can’t be the only one that’s increasingly curious as to how Tacko could fair against Joel Embiid, but I think it is a matchup worth trying.

The possibilities are endless for what Tacko Fall can do with an extended role on the Celtics, and I think there are a lot of fans that would love to see more Tacko action. It still remains a question as to whether or not Tacko will in fact join the team in Orlando, but I’d assume he is a leading candidate for such a position.
