Isaiah Thomas

When Wojnarowski announced a transaction window for the league’s 30 teams, the first name that should have come to mind for every Boston Celtics fan is Isaiah Thomas. Thomas finds himself without a home despite the fact that he played his best basketball this season since he left Beantown in the first place.

Thomas struggled in short stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, but his career truly bottomed out during the 2018-19 campaign when he was taken out of the rotation for the Denver Nuggets.

That he was able to start for the Washington Wizards–a team that owns the league’s #6 offense this season–proves that he is not done yet. While he was let go by the Los Angeles Clippers in the multi-team deal that netted them Marcus Morris, Thomas has proven this season that he can help on a team with playoff aspirations. Don’t forget that the Wizards were invited to the NBA’s Orlando bubble along with the eight Eastern Conference playoff teams.

As previously mentioned, Wanamaker and Edwards (and maybe Tremont Waters) are the options for the backup point guard spot this postseason unless Brad Stevens plays on playing Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart all of the minutes at the 1. Thomas, like Crawford, is a step up from the incumbents based off of playoff experience alone.

With Walt Disney World playing host to the NBA’s return, an IT-Boston reunion would be the exact kind of magic that banner #18 could be made of.
