We don’t know when exactly it will be, but we do know the NBA’s offseason calendar will resume at some point. Who might the Boston Celtics select with their three upcoming selections in the 2020 NBA Draft?

So, Boston Celtics fans, if you’ve been following the timeline, you’ll know that the NBA is starting to form a calendar from the ashes of the season being dramatically upended.

We should know this week what the league will come up with in terms of a return to play plan. On Thursday, there will be a vote to ratify a scenario where 22 teams would return to play.

Obviously, that would mean the 16 teams who currently qualify for the playoffs plus six additional teams — likely most of which will be from the Western Conference — to join them to determine seeding and to take part in a potential play-in scenario.

Once that vote passes, the timeline dictates a mid to late July return to play for whatever truncated regular season that can safely happen. Given the NBA’s usual three-month time frame for the playoffs, that would mean that the season could conclude sometime in autumn.

Once the season is finished up, and we can finally declare a team the 2020 NBA Champion, we can get back to the usual offseason events that have defined the league’s 24/7, 365 year-long season cycle.

In regard to the 2020 NBA Draft, as it currently stands it isn’t projected to be as strong as, say, 2018, which saw Luka Doncic and Trae Young get selected laughably low before becoming All-Star starters in just their second seasons in the league.

That said, sometimes weaker drafts are looked back on more favorably than they were viewed at the time. The 2013 NBA Draft is an example of a draft that was weak at the top but has produced NBA stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Rudy Gobert among others.

The 2020 Draft is an important one for the Boston Celtics, especially after Danny Ainge drafted a weak 2019 class. Once again, the Cs are in an advantageous position, but none of that matters if they can’t add valuable pieces that can complement their core.

The Houdini believes the C’s have a chance to outdo their efforts from a year ago. Here’s who we believe Boston should take in our latest mock draft:
