Robert Williams

Robert Williams has spent much of the season dealing with injuries, robbing Boston Celtics fans the chance of seeing the center rotation at full health. At the offset of the season, the C’s were supposed to sport a “hydra” of sorts with their three-headed monster of Daniel Theis, Enes Kanter and Williams.

Instead, Theis has been the only player to grab the proverbial brass ring and establish himself in Brad Stevens’ rotation. Kanter has been in and out of the lineup, but he has been able to showcase his reliability on the glass and getting easy buckets in the paint.

Williams hasn’t been able to do any of those things. Unlike Kanter, he doesn’t have a career to fall back on. This was supposed to be a breakout campaign in year two for the “Time Lord”. Instead, it has been a year of questions.

The question could soon shift to whether or not Williams has a long-term future in Boston. The team has multiple first round picks in the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft, and can theoretically find another Williams in the second round or from the undrafted free agent market.

Speaking of, Tacko Fall could steal his roster spot if he continues to impress and ascend. Williams needs to make the use of this time in the practice facility so he can return to the hardwood in Disney World this summer and establish his role on the team.
