It’s not known quite yet whether or not the Boston Celtics have any drafter’s remorse with the second round choice of Carsen Edwards in the 2019 NBA Draft. If they do have any, here are three deals that can bring in better positional fits for the C’s roster.

A lot can change depending on what happens when the NBA most likely returns in front of no fans in Walt Disney World this summer. Players may adapt to the empty arena for better or worse, and that can influence what happens to a lot of the end-of-the-roster players this off-season. The Boston Celtics have several players that need to make a statement to save their jobs.

Guys like Brad Wanamaker and Javonte Green are living on borrowed time as older journeymen with no guaranteed money coming their way after this season concludes. Heroic efforts by either could salvage their time in green and white, but the more likely scenario sees Danny Ainge and co. making room for his three upcoming first round draft picks.

Now remember, free agency and the draft are pieces of the pie. Trades are very likely to happen plenty this off-season, with teams less likely to hand out long-term deals in the wake of what could be a shrinking of the salary cap.

The C’s could well go for a home run using their core, but the starting lineup and top reserves proved effective during the 2019-20 season. Here, though, we are exploring smaller sized deals involving second round pick Carsen Edwards.

Edwards impressed in his three-year college career, averaging 24 points per game in his final season at Purdue. He continued to heat up last summer during summer league and took a further jump in the preseason. It seemed like the Boston Celtics had a surefire scoring option off the bench.

Unfortunately, he ended up being demoted to the G-League as he struggled to adapt to the pro game after signing a four-year contract. His yearly salary is small, but there is always the chance that he never materializes in the league.

If the C’s want to get off of his money, here are 3 potential deals for the rookie combo guard:
