With the free agent market drying up this offseason, multiple teams are rumored to take to the trading block. Which Atlantic Division teams will strike, and what effect will that have on the Boston Celtics?

Among the many side effects of the NBA’s season suspension and subsequent revenue loss when the season does return without stands in the fans is the toll the pandemic will have on the salary cap. What that means–for the Boston Celtics and the rest of the league–is not yet known.

If the rumor mill is to be believed, there could be significant player movement coming in the forms of trades instead. Even before all of the economic uncertainty, there figured to be change this offseason…particularly in the Atlantic Division.

When the season was still going, four Atlantic Division teams were pegged to make the playoffs. Besides the C’s, who were on track to be the #3 seed in the east, the Toronto Raptors (who owned the conference’s second best record), the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets were all on track to be playing in the postseason.

One wild season return scenario could see the New York Knicks — currently the #12 seed — win a playoff play-in tournament and nab the final playoff seed. While they are the red-headed step cousin of the division, even the lowly Knicks could return to relevancy based off of recent rumors.

Change could be sweeping across the entire Atlantic Division this offseason. Here are three trades and the effects they may have on the Boston Celtics:
