Recently, headline names were bandied about by Bleacher Report for potential trades this off-season. How would those names fit in with the Boston Celtics?

Bleacher Report had interest in creating trades to land NBA stars their “ideal sidekicks”. Naturally, it had the Houdini thinking about where these targets would belong if they were wearing Boston Celtics green and white.

While the C’s don’t need another star to form a super-duo–of course already sporting the All-Star duo of Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum–they could do well to add really any of the names mentioned in Greg Swartz’ piece.

If the off-season has already begun, and the season is cancelled, you could expect the lost revenue to affect the way every single team operates. Large contracts like the ones handed out to Tobias Harris, Al Horford and Jamal Murray? Not in this post-COVID-19 climate.

You better believe that every general manager–in the situation that May 11th was the official end of what would be a satisfying but unfulfilling cancelled season–will be looking up and down his own roster and the rest of the league as well.

You could count Danny Ainge in that bunch. Over the years, Ainge has been known as one of the more active general managers when it comes to trades. Through his due diligence, the Celtics have been in the discussion for names like Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Ainge has pulled the trigger too. Deals involving Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, and later Kyrie Irving have defined the last seven years of Boston basketball. After a cancelled season in which the C’s looked like a contender, but one clearly behind the league’s elite in the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, perhaps he decides that this uncertain time is time to strike on the trade market.

If that is the case, here are the 3 best fits of recent league trade targets on the Boston Celtics:
