Jayson Tatum had a fantastic third year of play in the NBA. So good, in fact, it’s highly plausible the Boston Celtics star could come away as the league’s Most Improved Player.

Despite being consistently competitive over the past decade — minus one 2013-14 rebuild season — the Boston Celtics have found themselves cock full of high up and valuable draft assets.

Since the 2013 trade that saw Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett get shipped off to the Brooklyn Nets the C’s have acquired the rights to a total of 13 separate draft picks. One may call it incredible, but Danny Ainge simply calls it “another day at the office.”

With these assets the team has managed to bring on All-Stars, key contributing pieces and promising young prospects. Two of their current top performers in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are both the products of these acquired assets — both of their rights were traded to Boston in the Nets deal.

Both of said ballers are in the midst of their best season as professionals, proving to be more than just another talented player and, instead, key cogs for a championship aspiring unit.

Because of their excellence during the 2019-20 season, both of these young talents could very likely find themselves in the running for the league’s Most Improved Player award once the season is officially deemed over — currently on hiatus due to the global pandemic, COVID-19.

Last month, we discussed the argument in support of Brown coming away with the award once voting season comes upon us. Today, we’ll be arguing in favor of his 22 year old teammate.

Without further adieu, here are three reason why Jayson Tatum deserves the NBA’s Most Improved Player award.
