Nico Mannion, Arizona

Nico Mannion is another versatile point guard that Boston should consider drafting. Although Mannion is a much different player than Quickley, he also has potential to succeed at the next level.

Mannion’s court vision and passing ability should be on every team’s radar, especially the Celtics. Boston ranks 25th in assists and Mannion could help boost that number and get open looks for shooters like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward.

He is not only facilitator, but also a capable scorer. Mannion will not blow you away with his athleticism, but he is very crafty and gets to the rim with ease. Mannion’s smooth crossover allows him to penetrate and cash in on mid-range floaters.

This being said, Mannion is a risky pick for the Celtics and they must be prepared to develop him. He lacks athleticism and strength compared to many NBA guards. This means he must rely on his jump shot, but he must improve in this area.

Mannion can knock down open 3-pointers, but he will have to improve if he wants to be considered a true threat from behind the arc. Overall, Mannion has a lot of potential, but he is not a player that will come in and dominate immediately.

Mannion really seems to understand the true role of the point guard position and his court vision really stands out over many guards in this draft class. Boston is easily in range to draft Mannion in the mid-to-late first round.

Mannion and Quickley are very different prospects, but both of them could be valuable additions to the Boston Celtics.
