Boston Celtics: 2 blockbuster trades C’s could make this offseason
By Mark Nilon
At this year’s trade deadline the Boston Celtics remained quiet. Perhaps the offseason could lead to a different outcome.
The Boston Celtics are in quite possibly the most envious position a team could possibly be in. Surrounded by a plethora of young talents (average age of roster hovers around 24 years old) the C’s future appears to be as bright as any other team in the association. Because of this, it’s a realistic possibility that we will be finding them competing for titles as far as five years down the road.
However, thanks the the excellent play of their young bucks Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown and their key savvy veterans in Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart and Gordon Hayward Boston finds themselves currently in a position to potentially represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals and contend for 2020’s Larry O’Brien trophy — if the season ever resumes.
Still, this is not to say the Celtics are a perfect unit. Despite their third seed in the east (43-21), their fifth best record in the entire league and their sixth straight postseason berth, the team’s roster has it’s fair share of flaws.
This offseason there is expected to be numerous talents hitting the open waters known as unrestricted free agency who could be of some service to the shamrocks in 2020-21. However, what if the team wanted to shake things up a bit?
What if, instead of signing a player they believe would be a good fit for the team, what if they decided to trade for one that could potentially be a great fit?
Today, we will be discussing two blockbuster deals the C’s could make this offseason.
