Jayson Tatum

We would be remiss if we didn’t include the likes of Jayson Tatum on a list discussing the best contracts on the Boston Celtics. The though process goes like this:

  1. He’s the team’s go to offensive option
  2. He was named an All-Star in 2019-20
  3. He’s still only on his rookie deal

To say there’s a better contract residing on the roster would just be a flat out lie. After suffering somewhat of a sophomore slump in 2018-19 Tatum came into this year’s campaign guns a blazin’ and, leading up to the league’s hiatus on March 11th, he never took his foot off the gas.

Through 59 games the 22 year old has produced to the tune of 23.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals and just shy of a block per game on 45 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from deep.

Proving capable of going toe to toe with the best of the best in the league seemingly all season, during the month proceeding the All-Star break, Tatum managed to bring his game to even greater heights.

Post the festivities Tatum was stuffing the stat sheet with 29.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals and one block per game on 47 percent shooting from the floor, a whopping 47 percent shooting from downtown and boasted an offensive rating of 117.

In short: Jayson Tatum is the leader of the team with the fifth best record in the entire association and he’s still under his rookie deal through next season.

Of all the great contracts the Boston Celtics have in tow, this one easily takes the top spot.
