With the Utah Jazz being in the headlines because their top two stars have a relationship that may not be salvageable, the Boston Celtics could very well be a stealth trading partner…but which star should they go after?

News that Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell are at odds should be music to the ears of any Boston Celtics fans. While the Jazz are one of the Western Conference’s dark-horse contenders, off-the-court drama may lead to splitting up their core.

The Utah Jazz are reportedly trying to fix the fractured relationship between the two, but reports indicate that their relationship may not be able to be repaired. It all stems from Gobert’s recklessness surrounding the coronavirus that could have led to Mitchell also testing positive for COVID-19.

While Gobert’s actions weren’t malicious–he likely didn’t take the threat of the virus seriously, just like many other Americans–they still could have led to Mitchell testing positive for something that has effectively shut down the world’s economy and put every sporting season on hold.

It’s understandable why Mitchell may hold a grudge. That said, if he has no plans to ever get over his frustration, that could lead to Utah splitting up the two stars via a trade. While many pundits have rushed to assemble potential trade packages for the Jazz’s former Defensive Player of the Year at the center spot, perhaps it’s Mitchell who could be the better get.
