While the core of the Boston Celtics is set right now, the Houdini is looking ahead to create a wish-list of players we want to see one day suit up in green and white alongside their current franchise cornerstone.

With Boston Celtics basketball at the mercy of new discoveries and progress in the fight against the global pandemic we are all currently battling, the indefinite hardwood hiatus has no end in sight.

In the meantime, NBA fans have had to settle for NBA 2K tournaments and the upcoming NBA H-O-R-S-E competition to scratch the basketball itch. Playing NBA 2K is at least an escape for fans who need anything resembling competition and to hear the commentators, sideline reporters and live crowd.

What it also provides is a glimpse into an alternate reality where just about any NBA star could suit up in Celtic green. In real life, the C’s have the means to acquire just about any star due to their treasure trove of assets in the form of both cornerstone talent and draft capital.

The truth is, the team is more than likely going to hold steady, boasting a squad that is cohesive enough to secure a top playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. After feeling the burn of the Kyrie Irving trade, perhaps Danny Ainge will think twice about breaking up his current core. Jayson Tatum is blossoming into a full-fledged superstar and Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown are worthy co-stars on a title contender.

With all of that said, there will be a day where the C’s reenter the trade conversation. Walker’s days as a marquee superstar could be numbered while Brown may never make the superstar leap Tatum does.
