The Boston Celtics have rostered quite a few of the greatest players in league history, some of which you may have forgot ever suited up for the franchise.

Since the franchise’s foundation back in 1946, the Boston Celtics have etched themselves into the record books as the most winningest organization in league history. Attaining their first NBA Finals title back in 1956 the team has gone on to win 16 more — 17 in total — , 11 of which were won within a span of 12 years.

Year in and year out the team is seemingly always amongst the powerhouses of the league as well as viewed, at the least, as a playoff contender and, at best, championship contenders.

Thanks to the brilliance of General manager / President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge — who is a former Celtic himself (1981-89) — the team has kept their competitive ways afloat, winning their record setting 17th title in 2008 and garnering postseason berths 16 times over the past 20 years — second most in the league.

These feats in large could not have been attained without the help of their talented rosters throughout the years. Over their 74 years of existence the Boston Celtics have rostered some of the greatest and legendary talents the association has ever seen.

From Bill Russell to Larry Bird, John Havlicek to Paul Pierce the organization has rostered 34 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame players — soon to be 35 with the induction of Kevin Garnett this coming August — and, outside of those currently enshrined, some of the best ballers the league has had to offer.

Even over the past two decades, the team has seen it’s fair share of great talents don the green and white threads, though some of which you might not remember. We’re here to bring you on a trip down memory lane and point out three specific players that you may have forgot played for the franchise since the turn of the century.
