The 2019-20 regular season was without a doubt a major success for the Boston Celtics. As a whole, when fully healthy the team over performed based on preseason projections, and so too did these 3 players.

It’s no secret that the fate of the 2019-20 NBA season hangs in the balance due to the global pandemic that is COVID-19. Because of this, the great season our beloved Boston Celtics were having prior to the league’s suspension could wind up being all for naught.

If this does end up being the case, and the season does not make it’s return to action, we as fans must not feel anything less than jubilant on the year that was. By the time of the hiatus, the C’s had accomplished quite a bit.

Boston held a record of 43-21, which was third best in the Eastern Conference and fifth best in the entire league, had sent Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum to the All-Star game and clinched the franchise’s sixth straight postseason berth (rank second in playoff appearances over the past 20 seasons).

After an offseason that saw a plethora of roster shakeups — Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Terry Rozier, Marcus Morris and Aron Baynes all saw exits while players like Walker and Enes Kanter came in to fill massive voids –, though many still predicted the team to be a playoff contender, hardly anyone envisioned the success in which the team found throughout the year.

Though there is no sole reason for their overall success — after all, basketball is a team sport — surprise performances could certainly be seen as a major factor for this surprise season. With this in mind, the Houdini will discuss 3 C’s that over performed — based on preseason expectations — throughout the 2019-20 season.
