Mac McClung, PG

The last entrant on our list is Georgetown’s athletic combo guard Mac McClung. McClung recently declared for the 2020 NBA Draft via an announcement made on his personal Instagram page:

McClung rose to fame for his athletic feats as a baller high-schooler, and he had a good season at Georgetown before injuries cut it short: 15.7 points, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals a game in 21 contests for the Hoyas.

That said, the C’s don’t exactly need someone with his play-style. Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart take the lion’s share of shots for the Boston Celtics, and they are currently grooming two undersized guards with a scoring knack in Carsen Edwards and Tremont Waters.

Putting the ball in McClung’s hands won’t be on the list of high priorities for Brad Stevens. McClung is best suited on a team that has the time to groom him with playing time in the G-League.

Boston is already grooming two such guards in Maine.

Using one of the C’s first rounders on the highly touted McClung would not be the best use of resources. As exciting as his play-style is, Boston’s scouting department is best to look elsewhere.
