Jahmi’us Ramsey, SG

First up, we have the 2020 Big 12 Freshman of the Year Jahmi’us Ramsey. The Texas Tech standout had a fantastic season during his first year at the collegiate level — as we’ve already alluded to — serving as his team’s main scoring option.

Through 27 games, the 18 year old boasted impressive averages of 15 points, four boards, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game on 44 percent shooting from the field and 43 percent shooting from deep, ranking him third overall in the Big 12 in this category.

He has proven to excel in catch and shoot situations and can catch his man off the bounce from time to time, giving him the capability of creating offense for himself. Listed at 6-4, the shooting guard has a wingspan of 6-10 (above average for a typical small forward) and has shown the athleticism to flush it home at the rim on lobs and driving slams.

Defensively, he proves to be a solid help defender, but struggles to stay consistent in man to man coverage.

In regard to his fit with the Boston Celtics, he could fill the role of sharpshooter off the pine who could thrive running alongside Marcus Smart, a man who’s improved significantly with his own shot but prefers to participate in drive and kick situations; Ramsey could prove to be a serviceable recipient on the other end of a play like this.

As a whole, the C’s bench ranks 29th in the league in points per game and 27th in 3-point percentage. Adding a guy with the skillset of Jahmi’us Ramsey should only help improve these numbers in 2020-21 should they translate to the professional level.
