Boston Celtics: 3 burning questions for if/when the 2019-20 season resumes

If ball is life, life has been on hiatus for almost two and a half weeks. The NBA season has paused, but what will life be like for the Boston Celtics and the rest of the league when…or if…the season returns?

Why is the sky blue? When did the world start? How did the Boston Celtics win 17 NBA titles?

Only one of those questions could be definitively answered. What can’t be answered–at least not yet–are some burning questions pertaining to the NBA’s season.

The Houdini is going to ask them anyway.

We don’t know when we will return to normalcy. Hell, it won’t even be normal when games do resume…if they resume. There will never be a sense of normality assigned to this particular time period for the rest of time.

As has been mentioned plenty, this season has been tumultuous since the preseason when Daryl Morey retweeted a pro-resistance tweet regarding Hong Kong’s affairs. It feels like years have taken place between that and even the death of Kobe Bryant.

The league changed its All-Star game format to pay tribute to the lives of Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the seven others that lost their life in the deadly crash.

In reality, this season never felt normal. Perhaps it’s fitting that we wouldn’t get a textbook conclusion to it. LeBron James was running the Western Conference in Los Angeles while the Golden State Warriors bottomed out. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were teaming up in Brooklyn, but didn’t suit up a game together. Kemba Walker was finally on a capable team!

It stings for the Boston Celtics to have such an impressive season halted, but they will have to adjust when the league returns just like their 29 rivals.
