Semi Ojeleye

Semi Ojeleye will be facing an interesting summer to say the least. If the salary cap goes down, the willingness to spend on a restricted free agent who isn’t particularly skilled in one area may not be plentiful.

Ojeleye has played a specific role for the Boston Celtics as a small-ball who can cover the opposing team’s best perimeter player at times. His strength and frame allow him to hold his ground, but he has never been a particularly strong rebounder. That, and his mediocre 33 percent conversion rate from the 3-point line make him someone teams won’t be lining up to throw a significant offer sheet at this summer.

Depending on how far the salary cap plunges, Ojeleye will face a difficult decision this off-season. With 2021 still the summer where teams will have ample cap space, he may have to sign the qualifying offer this off-season from the C’s. That would make him an unrestricted free agent after next season.

The alternative may be a hometown discount. Ojeleye could be retained by the C’s if they are forced to go over the cap. That could happen depending on the fate of the final free agent to be on this list:
