Iman Shumpert

First up on our list, we have veteran swingman and sound defensive talent Iman Shumpert.

Throughout his nine year career, the shooting guard has managed to make a name for himself as a solid role player who provides stout D on the perimeter. He has proven capable of performing for championship contenders — something the Boston Celtics still should be considered despite their recent slump — as made evident by his tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers (four trips to the NBA Finals and one Finals win).

Most recently, we saw Shumpert logging minutes for the Brooklyn Nets, filling in for Wilson Chandler as he serves his 25-game suspension for PEDs earlier in the season. He produced to the tune of 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and just under a steal per game and a defensive box plus/ minus of 0.8.

Now residing on the open market — was waived by Brooklyn when Chandler returned — Shumpert is waiting for the call to provide his athletic abilities and defensive prowess for a ball club. That club could very easily be the Boston Celtics.

Potential replacement for: Javonte Green

When the C’s signed Javonte Green this offseason after his inspiring Summer League performance, they believed they were getting an athletic/ defensive minded wing to contribute for the team in the second unit.

Now, 63 games in, we’ve seen Green struggle to find consistent playing time with the team due to his oft underwhelming play on the court, and has recorded DNP status on numerous occasions.

With the fact that the team is reluctant to play him, it might be wise for them to consider signing Shumpert, someone who has proven capable of providing the attributes the C’s had hoped Green would provide when they signed him.
