The Boston Celtics were inactive during the trade deadline, but they can still make a move to better their chances of securing the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Houdini ponders the fit of these three free agents.

February’s trade deadline came and went without so much as a minuscule roster transaction from Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics. While big names were bandied about, such as Andre Drummond, Kevin Love and LaMarcus Aldridge, there was ultimately no movement for Beantown’s professional basketball franchise.

We here at Hardwood Houdini have fully embraced Daniel Theis as the team’s starting center after trying to find upgrades all off-season and for the first half of the season. Since the trade deadline, Theis has elevated his play, and pundits have started to take notice.

That said, there are issues elsewhere on the roster that we just aren’t satisfied with. The bench has been exposed as of late, with Tuesday night’s loss being the most egregious example of the team’s futility when the stars are sitting.

Granted, this won’t matter as much when the rotations shrink in the playoffs and Brad Stevens is heavily leaning on his best five players and likely shrinking the rotation to roughly eight players. But there are still 21 games left in the season and the Boston Celtics are right in the thick of the race for the #2 overall seed in the east.

From now until game #82, the C’s need to do everything possible to avoid a first round matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers or the Indiana Pacers–two of the likeliest #6 seeds. Here are three wild-card additions that can help them down the stretch:
