Contain Collin Sexton

Perhaps one of the most underrated players in the NBA, Collin Sexton is one of the least talked about 20+ point-per-game scorers the league has to offer.

Wallowing away on the lowly Cavs, the second year guard is averaging an impressive 20.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and a steal per game on 46 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent shooting from deep. Despite the lack of competence and consistency residing on this Cleveland roster, Sexton has been one of the many few bright spots the franchise’s fans have to hang their hats on in 2019-20.

Because of this, perhaps the most important key to victory for the Boston Celtics tonight is to contain the 21 year old.

Through three outings against the Celtics this season, Sexton is averaging 16.7 points and three boards a game on 40 percent shooting from the field. During their closest outing earlier in the season (Boston won 119-113) the combo-guard proved to be a menace, putting up 21 points on 43 percent shooting from the floor and a whopping 67 percent shooting from 3.

In the other two games, though Sexton still managed to stay productive — scoring 21 points in their last outing — the C’s defense honed in on the young baller and, in turn, hold a 3-0 series lead over the Cavs.

If the Boston Celtics wish to come away from the season with a series-sweep, the first course of action is to keep Collin Sexton from going off.
