Trey Burke

First up on our list, we have a player who knows one of Boston’s Eastern Conference enemies quite well. Trey Burke spent 25 games with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2019-20, and was putting up some solid numbers along the way.

In 13.2 minutes the point guard managed to average 5.9 points, 2.1 assists and 1.4 boards per game on 47 percent shooting from the floor and 42 percent shooting from deep. Looking at the stats, it wasn’t necessarily a matter of poor play that saw the ‘6ers drop Burke but, rather, the fact that he was impinging on young guard Shake Milton‘s playing time/ development — and, based on his recent performances, can you blame them?

It’s as simple as this Boston Celtics fans: the team needs an extra scoring punch off the bench and could use help with the reserve backcourt positions. Burke fits this description.

He is a career 10.5 points 3.5 assists player with shooting averages of 41 percent shooting from the field and 34 percent from 3.

He could fill the role that many — at least, we — envisioned Carsen Edwards having coming into the season and would certainly add some solid offensive talent to a unit that ranks second to last in points-per-game (27.4).
