After months of speculation on our end, it doesn’t seem likely the Boston Celtics will make any changes to the roster before the playoffs.
Danny Ainge’s recent words give credence to the idea that the Boston Celtics were done making changes to the roster when they gave Javonte Green the final roster spot in the preseason.
"“There’s nothing on the buyout market that we’re interested in doing right now,” Ainge said on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher & Rich” show. “But we’re going to continue to evaluate that all the way up until March 1.”"
Evaluate he must, but given the inactivity at the recent deadline, it seems unlikely that anything will happen. He is content with the strength of his best five and the big-men and bench depth he has assembled around them.
We are nearing the eve of the buyout market and the team has not looked like it needs an upgrade. That has happened internally with the massive leap of Jayson Tatum during February. Jaylen Brown’s scoring jump (over 20 points per game for the first time in his career) has also helped deliver what some would call an early arrival for these Boston Celtics.
When a team delivers as consistently as the Celtics have this season–with wins over the Bucks, Lakers, Raptors (two), Clippers and Nuggets–it makes sense to avoid any major moves. There are also reinforcements inbound from Robert Williams and Kemba Walker after the team has remained more than just competitive in their absences.
As easy as it is to want to see the team add talent, it really isn’t the end of the world. With no major injuries to their main guys, the shrinking of the playoff rotations will put an emphasis on the team’s top producers. No other team has more potential than the star-laden C’s.
Whether the team fully arrives ahead of schedule or bows out early in the playoffs, Ainge is standing by his guys.

We will have to wait for the off-season to see what shakeups Ainge has in store for the roster.
