Sometimes, the heart can cloud the head’s judgement. Is that the case with wanting the Boston Celtics to consider re-signing former MVP candidate Isaaiah Thomas?

I’d imagine that many, if not most, Boston Celtics fans reacted to the recent news of Isaiah Thomas angling for a reunion with the team with smiles and reminiscent thoughts. In an interview with HoopsHype, Thomas spoke highly of the C’s and kept the door open for a reunion:

"“I hold no grudges, and they know that,” Thomas told HoopsHype. “I have genuine love for the city of Boston. If that were to happen, I’d love to be part of what they have going on. You never know. I’m always open for any opportunity to be in the NBA and play the game that I love at the highest level. If that opportunity presents itself, for sure. Time has passed.”"

Granted, Thomas is in no position to turn away any opportunities after being waived by the Los Angeles Clippers in the same trade that landed the team Marcus Morris, an ex-Celtics who likely won’t be angling for a Beantown return anytime soon.

That said, it is notable that Thomas spoke so highly of the franchise and their current situation. Of course, any return to the TD Garden hardwood would be in a bench role with Kemba Walker now holding down the lead guard spot. Thomas would more than likely accept a sixth man role, which was the role he played on the Phoenix Suns prior to joining the C’s the first go around.

If and when that hurdle is cleared, it’d be up to Danny Ainge to add the 31 year old to this young but surging roster. Here are 3 reasons he should consider bringing back the former All-NBA floor general:
