Jaylen Brown

For us, this is quite an easy choice including Jaylen Brown. In fact, many fans of the organization believed the 23 year old was a snub from this year’s All-Star game.

But fret not Boston Celtics fans, his time will come… and soon.

After signing his four year, $115 million extension this past October, many chastised the franchise’s decision. After somewhat of a lackadaisical 2018-19 season for the wing, many questioned whether or not Brown was deserving of such a pay raise, being that Buddy Hield and Brandon Ingram — two talents who produced far better than Brown on the season — received either less money on their extension or, in Ingram’s case, no extension at all.

Some lesser players may have let the noise get to their head and, in turn, have them play with hesitation and fear of proving the naysayers right.

For Jaylen Brown, however, this has not been the case in 2019-20.

Through 44 outings the fourth year wing has answered to his critics to the tune of 20.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game (all career highs) on 50 percent shooting from the floor and 38 percent shooting from deep. He has proven himself to be one of the main factors in the C’s stellar season thus far and, in turn, has proven the negative chatter surrounding his extension to be wrong.

With year one of his extension kicking in at the start of the 2020-21 campaign, it appears Boston’s future is blindingly bright with him in tow. If he keeps this level of play up throughout his tenure, sooner or later the All-Star game’s voters will see his worth and should add him to the East’s selections with little hesitation.
