The Minnesota Timberwolves were sellers on Tuesday night as they gave up Robert Covington in a four-team blockbuster. If they don’t elect to keep Evan Turner, could the Boston Celtics reunite with the veteran wing?

The ripple effects of the NBA’s first major trade deadline deal are still being felt by the rest of the league. In fact, the Boston Celtics may soon feel like vultures. Recent rumors indicate that they are interested in Evan Turner, who may be bought out by the Timberwolves after the four-team blockbuster trade–that landed Clint Capela in Atlanta and Robert Covington in Houston–is completed.

Turner, at age 31, certainly doesn’t fit the timeline of the rebuilding Timberwolves. He was coming from a similar situation in Atlanta, and held averages of three points and two assists in just 19 games this season.

The Boston Celtics may not be alone in their pursuit of Turner, with the Miami Heat also looking to position themselves as players in his potential buyout market. With both teams in possession of a top record in the east, it appears that contenders see Turner as a valuable bench presence.

According to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, there are a few reasons why the C’s may have interest:

"The Celtics have been looking to bolster their bench heading into the stretch run of the season. Boston had hoped for more production from rookie wing Romeo Langford, but Langford as struggled with injuries and has averaged only 2.3 points in 14 games. Turner could fill that role, though he struggles as a 3-point shooter, making just 29.4 percent on his career."
