Davis Bertans

You knew it was only a matter of time before you saw Davis Bertans‘ name on this list. For essentially the entire season, Bertans has been heavily linked to the Boston Celtics as a potential trade target.

Now, with Clint Capela — the team’s most recently reported big-man target — is off the market, the idea of the franchise striking a deal for the 27 year old seems all the more realistic.

Two of the biggest problems the C’s have faced this season has been their front court rotation and their 3-point shooting.

Davis Bertans would help in both areas.

On the season, the 6-10 Latvian native is averaging 15 points and 4.6 rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field and 43 percent shooting from 3. On an expiring $7 million contract, putting the pieces together to make the money work would be quite easy for the Celtics.

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix believes that, while the Wizards appear content with keeping the fourth year pro, Boston could have the best chance of any team to convince them to part ways with the big.

"Washington has effectively hung up on teams looking to extract Bertans, but Boston could make things interesting if they throw a pick or two into the pot. Because really … what are they holding on to them for?"

Heading into the trade deadline, Davis Bertans is perhaps the most realistic trade target the Boston Celtics could acquire.
