Boston Celtics Rumors: 3 bench pieces the team could target
By Mark Nilon
Alec Burks
As previously alluded to, the Boston Celtics’ bench scoring production has been very underwhelming in 2019-20. If they wish to address this issue at the deadline, they should seriously consider dealing for Alec Burks.
So far this season, Burks has proven to be one of the Golden State Warriors’ most consistent producers. Through 48 games, the nine year veteran is boasting a career high of 16.1 points to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists on 41 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from downtown.
Celtics fans got to see the shooting guard’s impressive production first hand late last month when Boston hosted the Warriors at the TD Garden. We saw Burks drop 18 points and collect four rebounds while shooting 50 percent from both downtown and the field as a whole.
We’ve been preaching Alec Burks to the Celtics for quite some time now. With Ainge’s most recent comments, an acquisition like this makes a lot of sense.
His one year, $2.3 million contract would be quite easy for the C’s to deal for. Perhaps packaging someone like Semi Ojeleye along with a draft pick would be enough to entice Golden State to part ways with the 28 year old.
