3. Karl-Anthony Towns

Look, there’s a very unlikely chance anything crazy happens in the form of a Karl-Anthony Towns trade. The Boston Celtics are likely staying put and avoiding any major moves. Hell, I just mentioned how the team would likely hold off on trading Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward. Where does the idea of a Towns deal come from?

Well, A. Sherrod Blakely of NBCSports Boston chimed in with his thoughts on what would happen if the Minnesota Timberwolves offered up their superstar center to the trade hyenas circling the franchise in hopes Wolves owner Glenn Taylor relents on dealing his centerpiece:

"As much as the Celtics are one of the teams that like Capela, he’s not the only guy that they have their eyes on. You know, Karl-Anthony Towns is a name that we’ve heard quite often and right now Minnesota isn’t quite ready to engage teams in conversations about him. But make no mistake about it, he too will be a player that I think if they make him available, Boston will be among the teams that will express interest."

If–and that’s a huge if–Towns hits the market, expect Danny Ainge to make a full-fledged pitch to bring him to the Boston Celtics, with almost any player besides Walker on the table for a deal.

Don’t get your hopes up, however.
