Luke Kennard

The Phoenix Suns and the Detroit Pistons appear to be locked in on a trade that would send Luke Kennard to the desert. Talks have “gained traction”, but ultimately they have led nowhere, as Kennard is still in Detroit.

Usually talks for a player of Kennard’s stature don’t drag on too long. If a deal isn’t found soon, it’s likely there won’t end up being such a deal. That makes Kennard available and on the market for another team to swoop in.

The Boston Celtics should consider being vultures and picking on the carcass of trade talks if they do in fact die down.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, a potential return in trade talks would be a first round pick in addition to what amounts to salary filler:

The Celtics could easily match that price. Any of the C’s young core would top any player the Suns are offering, and although the Memphis pick may end up being a worse one than Phoenix, Boston can offer a second first rounder in the form of the Bucks pick to top any package James Jones comes up with for the Suns.

Danny Ainge–as always–holds the power in negotiations. He can make sure there aren’t any overpays, but he could also realistically land these three wings, and most any mid-level trade target on the strength of his draft assets.

Next. 3 C's that are untouchable in Capela talks. dark

We shall see how he chooses to use the pawns at his disposal.
