The trade market has opened up, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the Boston Celtics will be joining the festivities. If the front office goes the conservative route with deal-making, the answer to the question of how the roster could be improved could be answered by the buyout market.

As this season has progressed, Boston Celtics fans have been taken on a roller-coaster ride of mood swings. When the team was blown out opening night by the Philadelphia 76ers, the lack of a viable big man was the largest pressing issue.

Then, the C’s reeled off eight straight games. Perhaps Daniel Theis, Enes Kanter and Robert Williams was enough to be an Eastern Conference powerhouse. Who needs a frontline center when you have “Team Shamrock”?

Well, since then, there have been winning streaks–which is the reason why the team currently owns home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference playoffs–and losing streaks.
