Boston Celtics: finding the best 3 Vincent Poirier trade packages
The first deal involves the fallen franchise known as the Golden State Warriors. Where Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson once roamed the perimeter, there is now Alec Burks, Jordan Poole and Glenn Robinson III soaking up the majority of the minutes at the wing positions.
That may explain their free-fall down the standings to the west’s worst record. Scratch that; it perfectly illustrates why the winners of three of the last five NBA titles is now on track to draft one of the top five picks in the lottery.
This year is a lost cause for the Warriors, who are sellers at the deadline for the first time since 2012, when Monta Ellis was shipped to the Milwaukee Bucks to open up playing time for Thompson in his rookie year.
Robinson is one of the targets that Golden State is considering moving. The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly shown interest. Given Danny Ainge‘s interest in acquiring a wing, the Boston Celtics should be considered a destination for Robinson.
Poirier alone isn’t getting a deal done. The Warriors just recently offloaded Marquisse Chriss, signaling that the team doesn’t necessarily need a big. However, Poirier is really included here as collateral for the second round pick that Golden State would be acquiring.
Robinson has had a solid year statistically, averaging career highs in points (12), rebounds (five) and assists (two). That said, a second round pick is likely the most the Warriors can reasonably expect for his production.
