The Boston Celtics are not likely to make any major trades that compromise their core, but a deal for one of the best 3-point shooters in the league is on the table according to recent rumors–and they aren’t the only team in the running.

Trade season is at an absolute fever pitch right now in the NBA news cycle. The Andre Drummond rumor dominated the rumor mill early, with the Boston Celtics being one of several teams named as a potential destination.

That thinking only went so far, with the realization that any Drummond deal would need to include one of Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward or Marcus Smart for salary purposes making it a non-starter. Losing that sort of depth would compromise the team’s identity of swarming perimeter defense, and in recent weeks, Daniel Theis and Enes Kanter have made their most convincing cases that the team’s need for a big-man is over-exaggerated.

Like any team, however, shooting is an omnipresent need. Nowadays, you better have a player that can sink the 3-ball with regularity if you plan on having a fully spread out offense. The C’s have Enes Kanter needing space in the post to operate his (at times) brilliant post offense. All of Boston’s wings can use the spacing to attack driving lanes with less resistance.

Enter Davis Bertans.

The Houdini has mentioned his name before, and now–after Washington initially rebuffed the idea of parting with their lethal 3-point sniper (44% on eight attempts per game), Bertans is now the target for the Boston Celtics and several other teams around the league.

With that said, who has the best shot at landing the long-range specialist? Read on to see where the C’s stand in the Bertans sweepstakes:
