Both the Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown have a new look this season. As Brown enters a contract year, he wanted to ‘see’ something different.

The Boston Celtics are going to look a lot different in 2019. Kemba Walker becomes the team’s third All-Star point guard in the last four seasons. The addition of Enes Kanter will bring a different type of personality to this Celtics team. The rookie class for Boston has stolen the hearts of the fans and has yet to disappoint. On top of all of this, Jaylen Brown has cut off his signature flat-top and now has a buzz-cut. I guess there’s a lot of a change happening with this team.

Jaylen Brown has a lot riding on this season. He is entering the final year on his rookie contract, and is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of this season. Along with the new look and feel of a retooled Boston Celtics team, Jaylen Brown has too given himself a new look.  At Celtics Media Day yesterday, Brown did say this about his new appearance:

"“I really just wanted to see something different. You know, I just wanted to change up a little bit, get ready for a new year and a new season, and I’m looking forward to some big changes.”"

Contract talks for Jaylen Brown have been kept rather quiet; frankly, they possibly haven’t even happened yet. Although, there have been some rumors that Brown will not earn a max contract extension from the Celtics, or even any team in the NBA I personally think it’s a little too early to assume something like that, but this is the NBA and the Celtics have a master negotiator in Danny Ainge who can get any deal done. When Amanda Pflugrad asked about his thoughts from last season, Brown had this to say:

"“I learned a lot about myself last season. I think that was my biggest challenge last year, things didn’t necessarily go my way and I didn’t complain or point fingers. I just tried to make the best of my situation, and it took a lot for me to do that.”"

Brown enters this season with the unknown of what his future will look like. It could be in Boston, or even in San Antonio where he could play for Gregg Popovich, who seemingly fell in love with Brown during the FIBA World Cup this summer. The Celtics swing-man is one of the most athletic guys in the NBA and he is going to be a hot commodity throughout the rest of the league. There is always the possibility that Ainge trades him by the deadline, so that the Boston Celtics can get something in return for Brown.

dark. Next. Enes Kanter has been dipping his toes in politics

The options are endless for what could happen with the contract of the young win. The most intriguing part of all of this is that Jaylen Brown is so calm and relaxed about it all. He knows everything will eventually work its self out.
