Thanks in large to this year’s FIBA World Cup, Boston Celtics newly acquired point guard Kemba Walker has been able to get acclimated to three of his Beantown teammates, and their chemistry is strengthening every day.

When it was announced that four players from the Boston Celtics were invited to the U.S mens basketball team’s training camp this summer, it was widely perceived as a great opportunity.

Great for the franchise for publicity purposes. Great for the two youngest invitees, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, to garner more experience. And great for point guard Kemba Walker to get to know some of his new teammates heading into the season.

Walker, the team’s marquee free-agent signing this summer, is expected by many to be the team’s unequivocal leader moving forward. A good leader builds relationships and chemistry with his running mates and, thanks in large to the upcoming FIBA World Cup, the 29-year-old is already getting started.

Walker, Brown, Tatum and Marcus Smart are all finalists to make the official Team USA 12-man roster, and Walker has stated how vital it has been for the group to grow closer throughout the camp.

"“Those are some good dudes right there,” Walker said. “I already had a chance to spend time with (Tatum). Me and Jaylen spent some time a few years ago in Africa, so we already knew each other a little bit, but they’re just easy guys to get a long with. I’m an easy guy to get a long with, so it’s been like we knew each other for a while at this point. But you know, we’re getting comfortable. I’m getting comfortable for the most part each and every day with those guys.”"

This is great news for a Celtics fan. Chemistry within a team is just as important to a team’s success as overall talent. The closer they all get to one another, the better their play should be. Friday’s scrimmage is surely an indication of what’s to come for the Beantown boys in the upcoming season.

As the tournament progresses, expect Walker, Brown, Tatum and Smart to continuously get closer to one another. Their chemistry is strengthening by the day and it should only help improve the Boston Celtics level of play during the 2019-20 season.
