The Boston Celtics are coming into this season with one of the best rosters the Eastern Conference has to offer. With Kemba Walker now in tow, coupled with the expectation that both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will receive bigger roles within the offense, Beantown could realistically find themselves rostering three All-Stars in 2019.

Heading into the 2019-20 season, Boston Celtics fans should be feeling a sense of excitement. Though the franchise lost a few key assets this offseason, the front office has done their part in tending to the many holes left behind.

They replaced Kyrie Irving with another All-Star point guard in Kemba Walker. They lost multiple rotational players but managed to fill the void with a plethora of young talents acquired during June’s draft. And, though he may not be the overall player Al Horford is, they managed to patch up their depleted starting center position with scoring & rebounding extraordinaire, Enes Kanter.

Though these roster additions should be seen as highly important, perhaps the most vital component to a successful season for the Celtics is the level in which Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum can play at in 2019.

Since seeing what the talented wings were capable of during the 2017-18 postseason, Boston fans and personnel alike have been on the edge of their seats, waiting to see these young bucks take that leap forward and lead the franchise into the promised land.

Though both of them did manage to find relative individual success in 2018, the team as a whole put up quite an underwhelming season and was trounced in the second round of the playoffs by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Heading into the 2019-20 season, due to the departures of Irving and Horford, the team now will be looking elsewhere for players to pick up the slack on both offense and defense. Both Brown and Tatum should certainly benefit from these new opportunities.

When asked about the young duo coming into this season, Enes Kanter seemed incapable of holding back his enthusiasm.

"“I think they both have the potential to be All-Stars this year,” Kanter said. “I think they have all of the tools – they’re hardworking guys, they’re willing to learn, they have amazing character on and off the court and they’re amazingly talented. I think for Jaylen and Jayson the ceiling is, of course, to be All-Stars. With their work ethic and leadership, I definitely think they can take our team to the next level and take us really, really deep into the playoffs.”"

Now, granted, being that they are teammates, one could insinuate that Kanter may be a bit biased when discussing these two players. However, when looking at their numbers over the past few season, coupled with the idea that they are slated to get increased involvement on offense, this statement is far from crazy.

The biggest reason as to why both Tatum and Brown excelled during the 2018 postseason was due to their increased involvement in the team’s rotation. With season ending injuries to both Irving and Gordon Hayward, touches were up for grabs within the offense, and the pair came running to the call.

With the aforementioned players returning physically healthy to the line-up the following season, opportunities became more scarce for Brown and Tatum which, in turn, resulted in what appeared to be “unimpressive” follow up campaigns. However, when looking at their per-36 minutes averages, one would notice that both players saw career highs in almost all statistical categories.

With the conversation, Brown put up averages of 18.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while Tatum recorded 18.2 points, 7 boards and 1.2 steals.

This upcoming season, these minutes averages are not just realistic, they’re expected. In turn, so too are these types of statistical turnouts – if not better!

With numbers like these, an All-Star nod is very attainable.

To no ones surprise, coming into 2019, the expectation is Kemba Walker should find himself playing in yet another All-Star game. With the Charolette Hornets, he managed to be selected to three, while putting up All-Star worthy campaigns many other times.

With the best supporting cast he’s had in his entire eight year career, the point guard very well could have a career year which, in turn, should result in his fourth appearance in the big game.

The Boston Celtics are coming into the year with high expectations, thanks in large to their talented centerpieces of Walker, Tatum and Brown. All three of these players could very well find themselves having career best seasons with their new roles. Could this lead to the team rostering three All-Stars in 2019?

You’re darn right it could!
