Boston Celtics vs Detroit Pistons: Three stars of the night
1 Star – Jayson Tatum
Before I dive into Jayson Tatum’s performance lets give a shout out to a few guys that just barely missed the cut.
Jaylen Brown played a stellar game off of the bench tonight, going for 17 points on 8-15 shooting to go along with 7 rebounds in 30 minutes of play.
Marcus Smart was hot from downtown all night, knocking down 4 threes on his way to 16 points and 5 assists. His 6 turnovers and -5 plus/minus held him back from making the three stars of the night, but still a performance well worth tipping your hat to.
Finally, let’s talk about Semi Ojeleye. The guy has rarely seen the hardwood in his 2nd year as a pro, but he made the most of his opportunity tonight. In 19 minutes of play Ojeleye connected on 2 of 3 long balls for 9 points and a whopping +19 plus/minus. He also dished out 2 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds. Well done, Semi.
As good as those guys were, Jayson Tatum made it impossible to leave his name out of the ranking. He did a bit of everything Thursday night, going off for 19 points to led the team in scoring. He connected on 3 three-pointers, grabbed 4 boards, and dished out 4 assists. His 2 steals led the team on the night, highlighted by this swipe of Andre Drummond:

Jayson Tatum will represent his Celtics in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge on Saturday night, and will also suite up for the Taco Bell Skills Challenge. It will be Tatum’s 2nd appearance on the Rising Stars and his first as a starter.
