2 Stars Winner – Al Horford

Big Al played some pretty big minutes in tonight’s contest and certainly made the most out of his opportunities. I like to call Horford Mr. Fundamental 2.0, as the big guy holds so many similarities to NBA legend Tim Duncan. He isn’t the most explosive player on the court, and quite frankly is a bit boring to watch. But he gets the job done and he gets it done well.

Horford finished with a game-high +30 plus/minus and nabbed himself up a double-double in the process with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The rebounds were key based on the fact that Al was matched up with Hassan Whiteside, a guy known for his outstanding rebounding ability.

Al also racked up 4 assists and shot 8-11 from the field. Look at how the big man controls the glass on one end and finishes the play on the other in this highlight real sequence.

Following a big-time rejection on Hassan Whiteside, Horford leads the sprint down the court and finds a cutting Irving for an easy bucket as the half comes to a close. Just like Tim Duncan, Horford always seems to find himself in the right place at the right time, and make the right play 99.9% of the time.
