Boston Celtics: 3 Reasons Why We Need Jaylen Brown To Deliver
By Thomas King
3-Pt Shooting
Sure, the numbers are ugly so far. Through 20 games, Brown is shooting 24.7 percent on 3.9 three-pointers per game. He’s only made 19 of 77 three-pointers.
Of course, its early in the season and so the numbers can change pretty quickly. Brown isn’t a 25-percent three-point shooter, so the numbers will even out eventually.
Just look at Gordon Hayward. His three-point percentage was in the 20’s most of the season until he had a few good shooting games and now he’s up to 33.7 percent already.
When Brown has a few great outside shooting games, we’re going to forget the slump altogether. He may not be the near 40-percent shooter from deep he was last season, but he doesn’t have to be. If Brown is making 35 percent of his three-pointers, defenses will have to honor him or pay the price and it will open up the lane to drive for himself and others.
Jaylen Brown is not going to shoot 16.7 percent on wide open three-pointers for much longer.
